Reason!!!
'Reason!' exclaimed Janotus; 'we use none of that here. You wretched, worthless traitors, there isn't a more depraved bunch than you on the whole face of the earth, as I well know...'
At these words they framed a charge against him; and he, in his turn, served them a summons. In the end the case was adjourned by the court - it is before them still - and at that point the Masters made a vow not to clean off their dirt, and Master Janotus and his supporters vowed not to wipe their noses, until a definite judgement should be delivered.
True to their vows they have remained dirty and snotty to this day. For the court has not yet fully sifted the documents; and the judgement will be given at the next Greek Kalends, that is to say never ... These swallowers of the morning mists [judges who get up early to get the bis cases] make the suits pending before them seem both infinite and immortal; and by so doing have recalled and confirmed the saying of Chilon ... thet misery is the companion of lawsuits, and that those who plead in them are wretched creatures, since they come to the end of their lives long before they attain the rights they lay claim to.
